We get out and explore the valley environment, do citizen science, share information and tall tales over a cuppa.
Loongana has a variety of precious ecosystems, poa grassland, wet eucalypt forests, myrtle rainforest, wetlands, rivers and streams, karst and caves, tea-tree swamps in the valley and transitional layers of heath, buttongrass....right up to sub-alpine areas.
There is so much to explore!
Sadly though, 10,000 hectares of Loongana forests from Winterbrook, across the north face of Black Bluff and Mt. Tor that are now zoned Future Production Forest. These forests could potentially be clearfelled and burned up to 900m alt.
Through surveying and mapping the biodiversity in our Valley we can respond to this and other environmental challenges.
We also address issues on our own properties, weed control, cat management and revegetation.
